once in a long rain
    soft
       on a forgotten petal
           wrapped in pearled solitude

    Handful raw flax seeds
    Handful raw pumpkin seeds
according to the size of your hand)
1/8 t. (more or less) hot chili oil (adjust the amount according to the size of your hand)

    Directions:
  • Heat and stir the oil on medium low heat in deep saucepan
  • Add seeds and stir so that the seeds are covered with the oil
  • Cover with lid and lower temperature so seeds won't burn
  • Stir seeds every minute or so to make sure they don't burn
  • Listen for a "popping" sound and continue to stir the seeds per above
add 1/2 - 1 T. soy sauce (I prefer a dark mushroom soy Pearl River region in China) and stir to cover the seeds
  • Turn off the heat and remove the pan from the heat
  • Cool slightly before storing in ceramic or glass jar with tight lid.

Serve like you would serve nuts or potato chips or toss onto salads, vegetables, rice or anything else you can think of!
