Hi, I'm Joy Sikorski (M.A.), and my inspiration for SingBabySingTM, the Puccini EffectTM and the Sikorski MethodTM came from Alaska, where I birthed and raised my three children in a log cabin I helped to build. I grew up in Los Angeles, where I studied music, and I'm a composer, performer and voice teacher, so you can imagine how incredible it was to be a mommy in the wilderness. But in that cozy little nook, I home-schooled my kids, chopped wood, shoveled snow, fished for wild salmon, cooked on a wood stove, grew a garden, survived volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, avalanches and unbelievable sub-zero weather in the northern climate darkness. Soon, you'll be able to read more about these incredible adventures that so deeply enriched my creative endeavors, for they are what helped me to understand the needs of parents and educators, wherever they might live. (more about Joy in Alaska)

As a mom, I noticed that the way I used my voice directly influenced the way my children learned to communicate. If I was uptight and my voice became strident, they got tense and fussy, which negatively influenced their learning process. If I was calm and my voice was gentle and melodious, they felt safe and relaxed, which made it easier for them to ask questions, communicate their ideas and absorb data.

That may seem like a no-brainer, but the other thing I realized was that very few people - parents and educators alike - ever have access to quality voice training for their children, whether they live in the city, the country or the wilderness. So I determined to do something about it. I formed SingBabySingTM, a company that creates cutting-edge music products uniquely designed to calm and soothe while training little ears for singing, the musical root of all language skills.

Joy Sikorski, M.A., a featured author in the Los Angeles Family Magazine and interviewed by the Dallas Opera Co., is a workshop presenter at the B.E.S.T. Arts Conference for Preschool Educators in the Los Angeles area (2006-2007), the annual HomeSchool Association of California Conference (2006-2007) and other organizations including MOMS Clubs, development centers and adult education classes.

Joy is an award-winning film composer, performer and educator with public relations experience. Her credits include a National Public Relations Society Award for music in a documentary film, recording with the Anchorage Symphony, music for a feature film, radio commercials, an international album, works for piano and voice, solo flute, tuba, violin, adult and children's choirs, as well as other incidental music.

She is also co-founder of "Caring for the Kenai," an award-winning environmental awareness contest featured on ABC's "Good Morning America," whose contestants have received the President's Environmental Youth Award.

Her free video singing lesson tips have had over 500,000 views from all over the world and she has helped people from more than 40 countries, including Ghana, Finland, Ireland, Sweden, Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, Italy, Brazil, China, Israel, Canada, the United States, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Chad, to name a few.

In addition to performance, speaking and workshop engagements, three of her current projects include a children's book, a book with companion music CD about her experiences in Alaska (check out Joy's Writing Zone) and in collaboration with Grammy Award winner, Michael Silversher and Richard Hellesen, a new musical based on a novel by Newbery Award winner Lois Lowry entitled Gathering Blue.

She is known for her unique and fascinating Impropera method for creating music.
